John K. Mecum

John K. Mecum, 87, of Jacksonville, died May 4, 2003 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, The Plains. He was born August 15, 1915 in Glouster, the son of the late Frank and Elisa Whaley Mecum. He was the married to the late Florence Mecum.

John was a retired Coal Miner and a longtime member of the Trimble Local School Board. He was also a member of the Trimble Masonic Lodge #557.

He is survived by 2 sons Charles Brenda Mecum of Jacksonville and Donald Patty Mecum of Glouster. 2 Daughter in Laws Shiney Mecum of Pontiac, Michigan and Sandy Mecum of Dayton. 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 sons Jack and Rex Mecum, 3 brothers and 6 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday in the Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster, with Rev. David Roach officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 6-8PM.
