Byron E. Oney
Byron E. Oney, 75, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, July 26th, 2003 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born August 26th, 1927 in Harveyslake, Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by his father Elwood Emmanuel and mother Bertha Eunice Crispell Oney, and wife, Ellen Mae Curtiss Oney.
He attended the Church of the Nazarene, and was a self-employed painter, and country musician. He also honorably served in the United States Army, with a tour in Panama.
Byron is survived by four daughters Julie Steven Horn of Boulder, Colorado, Gaye Dam Price of Burley, Idaho, Karla Jim Hess of Oregon, Judy Bruce Stumbo of Nelsonville; Honorary daughter Amy Anders and special grandsons Nick and Tommy Anders, all of Nelsonville; Ten grandchildren Holly, Heidi, Haley, Heather Price, and Kristen Stumbo, and Brad, Blair, and Bree Hess. Three brothers, George L. Alvina Oney of Hillsboro, New Jersey, Frederick T. Oney of Denver, Colorado, and Andrew D. Claudine Oney of Pittston, Pennsylvania; Seven sisters, June J.R. Stephens of Carterville, Georgia, Betty J. Strzelczyk of Harveyslake, Pennsylvania, Mable Anthony Matovsky of Deal, New Jersey, Lois M. Newbold of Denver, Colorado, Janet J. Ted Andrews of Westchester, Pennsylvania, Rebecca S. Thomas Widdick of Largo, Florida, Eunice E. Claude Sorber of Noxen, Pennsylvania.
Byron was preceded in death by sisters Pauline Gamrot, Elsie Petrillo, Jean Macri, and Ruth Harrison.
Contributions may be made in Byron?s memory to the American Diabetes Association, or to a Breast Cancer Awareness foundation.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 1st, 2003 at Swanson Funeral Home, corner of RT 29 and 118 in Pikes Creek Pennsylvania with Rev. L.D. Reed officiating. In-urnment will be at Kocher Cemetery in Lake Township. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Swanson Funeral Home. Arrangements by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville.
