Sadie Naomi Parks , 87 of Glouster died August 21, 2003 at O?Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. She was born April 21, 1916 in Wellston, daughter of the late Franklin and Ethel Mae Sisson Williams. She was the widow of the late Chester Earl Parks who died January 27, 1997.
She was a member of the Glouster U.M. Church, she was past president of the Glouster Garden Club, a member of the Athens Co. and Trimble Twp. Democratic club, Past President of Glouster City Council, She was active in the Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, she helped establish the Shalom House in Glouster, she helped establish the Vietnam and Korean War Memorial in the Glouster Park, she was a pioneer in the recycling efforts in Glouster and Trimble Twp. and continued this effort until her failing health. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a friend to all.
She is survived by 1 son Dean ?George? Gwendolyn Parks of Baltimore, Ohio, 5 daughters Martha Ann Bailey of Newark, Judith Richard Bryson of Pataskala, Winifred Robert Cunningham of Albany, Margaret Willard Stanley of Glouster, and Nina James Andrews of Nelsonville. 20 Grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. 1 brother Robert Williams of The Plains, 1 sister Wanda Sherman of Stockport.
She was preceded in death by 1 daughter Elaine Hamill, 1 son-in-law Jack O. Bailey Sr., 3 brothers Harold, Clyde, and Ronald Williams, 2 sisters Dorothy Williams and Marcella Cope.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday in the Glouster U.M. Church with Rev. Craig Crossman officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, Glouster on Saturday from 2-4 & 6-8PM and on Sunday at the church, 1 hour prior to the services.
