Catherine F. Hartman, 87, formerly of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003 at the Mason Health Care Center, Mason. She was born June 4, 1916 in Carbondale, the daughter of the late Floyd and Lydia VanBibber Arnold. She was the widow of Wilbert R. Hartman.

Catherine was a member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church and the Women?s Venice Class. She was retired from the Nelsonville School System where she worked in the cafeteria and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Brady of Lebanon and Cheryl and Bill Thomas of Columbus, six grandchildren, Caren and Jerry Young, Angela and Jeff Buelsing, Jamie and Bart Richardson, Teresa Hager, Julie and Scott Rowland and Jeremy Thomas, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Audrey E. and Ercle Eggleston of Nelsonville, one daughter-in-law, Jan Hartman of Gallipolis, and five sisters-in-law, Garnet Johnson of Belpre, Waneta Kennard of Nelsonville, Evelyn Marecki of Florida, Donna and Wilbur McLean and Ada Arnold of Lancaster.

In addition to her parents and husband, a son, Lester L. Hartman and two brothers, Lavern and Vernon Arnold preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 11, 2003 at the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville and one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are made to the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church, Chestnut and Harper Sts., Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.
