Donald R. Nunley, 78, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, January 12, 2004 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was born January 4, 1926 in Holden, WVa. the son of the late
Edward and Millie Carter Nunley.

He was currently working as a consultant at Hocking College and was awarded an honorary degree by the College. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the United Mine Workers of America International for over 50 years and was president of local #1340. He was also a member of the Murray City Eagles.

Mr. Nunley is survived by three sons, Donald E. Maureen Nunley of Sugar Camp, WV, Bert Marilyn Nunley of Dry Creek, WV, and Carl A. Nunley of Montana, two daughters, Elizabeth ?Tina? Grannon Nunley of Roseville and Tina Jim Nunley Golcar of Glouster, twelve grandchildren, Jeffrey Nunley, Bryan Nunley, Jamie Avolia, Trisha Nunley, Jason Grannon, Shane Grannon, Nathan Grannon, Rocky Nunley, Justin Nunley, Heidi Nunley, Misty Golcar and Douglas Golcar, thirteen great grandchildren, one brother, Carl Nunley of Mud Fork, WV, one sister, Pearl Benion of Peach Creek, WV, special friends, Russ Tippett and Jesse Barnhart, former wife, Rose Nunley and his son Bert?s dog, Scottie.

In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Allen Nunley, a daughter, Diana Nunley and a brother, Bert Nunley.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville with John Wright officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Friday, January 16, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
