Gerald ?Red? Thomas

Gerald ?Red? Thomas, 77, of The Plains, passed away Tuesday, January 27th, 2004 at O?Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. He was born July 16th, 1926 in Athens, Ohio, the son of the late Nathan and Virgie McNabb Thomas.

Gerald was a retired machinist for Carborundum, and served in the United States Army during WWII in Germany and Africa.

He is survived by one son, Seth Allen Thomas of Pomeroy, two daughters, Linda Bullock of Nelsonville, and Pam Steve Horton of Florida, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Harold Cleo Thomas of Chauncey, two sisters, Virgie Bumgardner of Chauncey, and Theta Graham, of The Plains. Gerald was preceded in death by a son, Steven Thomas, a daughter, Vickie Thomas, brothers Kenneth and Cecil, Sister, Cigna, and infant twin sisters, Iris and Irene.

At Reds lifelong request, graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 31st, 2004 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville, is handling the arrangements.
