Florence Louella Chalfant-Tomlinson

Florence Louella Chalfant-Tomlinson, 84, of Athens, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 at her residence. She was born February 12, 1919 in Celina, Ohio the daughter of the late Everett and Gertrude Cowell Brown.

She was a retired nurses aid and was the former owner of Don?s Donut Shop in Athens. She formerly attended the Athens church of God and was Master of the Grange in Glastenbury, CT.

Florence is survived by two sons, Randall and Sharon Chalfant of Columbus and Donald and Cindy Chalfant of Westchester; a stepson, Reggie Tomlinson of Florida; four grandchildren, Randall Craig and Vicki Chalfant of Columbus, Timothy Allen Chalfant of Florida, Heather Dawn and Ryan Campbell of Nelsonville, and Donald Clair Chalfant of Vail, Colorado; two step grandchildren, Adam Breeden and Nick Breeden; five great grandchildren, Jean Anne Chalfant, Randi Lynn Chalfant, Renee Chalfant, Corrine Campbell and Mackenzie Campbell; a sister, Sonna Brown Martin of West Union; and special family and friends, Paulette Chalfant, Janie Poffenbarger both of the Plains and Edward and Clemmie Nordstrom of Glastonbury, CT.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Clair Chalfant, her second husband, Harry Tomlinson, a daughter, Patricia Chalfant, two sons, Ralph Chalfant and Dennis Chalfant, two brothers, Clarence Brown and Junior Brown and three sisters, Helen Redmond, Gladys Bowers and Edna May Brown Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., Monday, February 9, 2004 at the Nelsonville First United Methodist Church, 205 West Columbus St., Nelsonville with Rev. Stacy Evans officiating. Interment will be at Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call Sunday, February 8, 2004 from 2-4 and 5-8 P.M. at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville and one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Athens County Visiting Nurses Association, Hospice and Health Services, 30 Herrold Ave., P.O. Box 768, Athens, Ohio 45701-0768.
