Jeffrey Alan Champ, 39, of Athens, passed away Saturday, March 20th, 2004 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born March 3rd, 1965 in Nelsonville, Ohio, the son of Floyd Sandy Champ of Carbon Hill, and Linda Doug Newman of New Straitsville. He was married to his wife, Cheryl Karnes Champ of Athens. She survives.

Jeff was a heavy equipment operator for Carvit Construction, loved hunting deer and fishing, was an avid outdoorsman, greatly enjoyed riding quads, and dearly loved his entire family greatly.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jeff is survived by one son, Jeffrey Paul Patrick of Logan, five daughters, Brittney Champ of Lancaster, Amanda Rodney Weaver of Athens, Elisha Tommy Gould of Athens, Tanya Robson of Athens, Carlye Robson of Athens, four grandchildren Rodney Weaver III, Tanisha Weaver, Shalyda Gould, Miranda Weaver, two brothers, Mike Lori Champ of New Straitsville, Kevin Lisa Newman of Congo, four sisters, Teri Clint Brown of New Straitsville, Lisa Sturgill of New Straitsville, Angela Eric Ziegler of Thornville, Debbie Newman of Gore, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Floyd and Elaine Champ, and Maternal Grandmother, Ilia Konkler.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 24th, 2004 at Souers- Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville, with Joe Easterling officiating. Interment will be in Carbon Hill cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004 from 2-4 to 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
