Herbert Eugene Gene Sparks

Herbert Eugene ?Gene? Sparks Sr. 75 of Logan went to be with the Lord on Monday March 22, 2004 in Lake Wales, Florida. He was born August 13, 1928 in Haydenville, son of the late William Sparks and Nellie Forrest Sparks Walker. He was married to Virginia Elliott Sparks who survives.

He was a retired service manager and auto mechanic for Geil Motors in Logan and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Gene was an Elder and member of the Hocking Hills Church of Christ, a church trustee for Ohio Valley Christian Assembly and a volunteer at Hocking Valley Community Hospital. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, a former member of the Logan Lions Club, a former member of Gideons International and a former Volunteer Fireman in Logan.

He is survived by 2 sons Herbert Eugene Sue Sparks Jr. of Logan and Robert Trudy Cline of Quincy, Michigan. 4 grandchildren Kira Sparks, Chris, Carrie, and Gene Cline
2 brothers William Nancy Sparks of Logan and Paul Phyllis Sparks of Columbus, and a sister in law Mary Sparks of Nelsonville. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Frieda M. Campbell Sparks, 1 infant sister Dorothy Sparks and a brother Ralph Sparks.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday in the Cardaras Funeral Home 183 E. Second St. Logan, Ohio with Thomas H. Postle, Evangelist officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan. Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8PM and on Friday from 2-8PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of Flowers contributions may be made to Ohio Valley Christian Assembly, a church sponsored youth camp that was dear to Gene?s heart. They may be mailed to Virginia Sparks 1331 Fourth St. Logan, Ohio 43138
