WILLIAM F. McCOLLISTER

William F. McCollister, 81, of Nelsonville, passed away Thursday, April 15th, 2004 at O?Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. He was born November 4th, 1922 in Nelsonville, Ohio, the son of the late Margaret Slater McCollister and Floyd Sr. and Martha Wycuff McCollister. He was married to the late Ada Jo Bunthoff for twenty three years.

Bill was a naval and Army Veteran of World War II who served aboard the U.S.S. Cleveland, was a member of the Nelsonville V.F.W., enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and tinkering with lawn mowers.

Bill is survived by four brothers, Leonard Donna McCollister, Charles Betty McCollister, both of Nelsonville, David Faith Ann McCollister of Athens, Raymond Mary McCollister of St. Mary?s, six sisters, Juanita Daniel Keyes of Lancaster, Norma Arthur Stowers of Heath, Mary Ronald Hartman of The Plains, Marjorie Marvin Pidcock, Ruth Ronald Six, both of The Plains, Jo Ellen William Fuller of Logan. Numerous nieces and nephews, and very special friends, Frank Sr.Patty Sullivan, Frank Jr. Tammy Sullivan, and Harley Dupler.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ada Jo, Bill was preceded in death by brother?s Floyd Jr., Robert W., an infant brother, sisters Betty Jane McCollister, Eleanor Eileen Murdock, and Debra Lynn Meissner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 19th, 2004 at Souers- Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville, with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Connett cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard of Athens County. Friends may call Sunday, April 18th, 2004 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
