Nettie Nan McClain

Nettie Nan McClain, 64, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, June 28th, 2004 at her residence in Nelsonville. She was born April 14th, 1940, the daughter of the late Cecil and Mildred Wend Carlin. She was married to her devoted husband, William L. McClain. He survives.

Nettie graduated from Nelsonville High School with the class of 1957. She earned her Bachelor?s Degree from Ohio University and a Master Degree in education from Mt. Saint Joseph. Nettie taught school for 34 years and was selected for the Who?s Who among America?s teachers. In 1998, she was inducted into the Logan-Hocking Schools Educators Hall of Fame. She served on the Nelsonville High School Alumni Association, was a member of the Nelsonville United Methodist Church, and played trumpet with the band ?Mac?s Bandits?.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children; Amy Craig, Curt Ericka and Stacy McClain; three grandchildren, Lisa, Brooke, and Drake McClain.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nettie?s memory to the Nelsonville High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 472, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764, or to Hospice of Athens County, P.O. Box 768, Athens, Ohio 45701.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Pastor John Elswick officiating. Interment will be at Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
