Josephine Lewis Russell, 88, passed away with care and comfort Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the home of her only son, Ernie Lewis. Born in Jacksonville, Ohio she was the daughter of the late James and Bertha Allensworth Barrett.
She was employed by the Ohio University for 25 years. After retiring she moved to Whitehall where she occupied her time with babysitting for Michelle Button who became like an adopted grandchild. She then moved back to the Glouster area to be close to her son and her family.
She was a lifetime member VFW and helped start the unit in Chauncey. She also was a member of the Ladies of the Eagles.
She is survived by one son, Ernie Joyce Lewis of Glouster; a daughter, Betty Larcamp of Columbus; grandchildren, Stephen Jeri Dee Lewis of Zanesville, Michael Pam Lewis of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Brook Trevor Unger of Lancaster and Danny Larcamp of Columbus; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a brother, Joe Marilyn Barrett of Coshocton; a sister, Lillian Russell of Millfield; two special friends, Kathy Stover of Whitehall and Helen Williams of Glouster and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Russell; three brothers, John, Walter and Francis Barrett and three sisters, Agnes Stolzs, Margaret Dunaway and Ann McManaway
At Mrs. Russells request she was cremated and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 10, 2004 in Maplewood Cemetery, Glouster with Rev.Tim Seevers officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster.
