Francis ?Dick? Young

Francis ?Dick? Young, 88, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, January 16th, 2005 at O?bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. He was born December 27th, 1916, in Waterloo Township, the son of the late Grover and Edith Dowler Young. He was married to Mabel Cunningham Young for 44 wonderful years. She passed away September 2nd, 1984.

Dick was a coal miner during his youth, and retired from the Athens County Engineers Office as a truck driver after 30 years of service. He loved attending the Ohio University Women?s Basketball games with his two dear friends, Sue Ellen Miller and Marilyn Shealy.

He is survived by two brothers, George Dorothy Young and Paul Pat Young of Athens, one sister, Garnet Smith of Nelsonville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dick was preceded in death by two sisters, Isabelle Brewer and Alice Walker.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 20th, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
