Vincent Carl Scartz

Vincent Carl Scartz, 64, of Pickerington, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2005, at Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born September 12, 1940, in Columbus, son of the late Carl and Liberty Bracaloni Scartz. Survived by his devoted and loving wife of 40 years Jane Mencer Scartz of Pickerington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two loving sons, Vincent June Scartz Jr. of Tarpon Springs, Fl and Major Justin Scartz of Pickerington; granddaughter, his little princess Carley Scartz; his beloved grandson, Benjamin Scartz both of Tarpon Springs, Fl; brother, Tony Scartz of Columbus; sister-in-law, Margie Ernie Scott of Shadyside, Ohio. In addition, he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many wonderful loving friends.
Vince was extremely patriotic and served his country as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division for 3 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ohio State Alumni Association, American Italian Golf Association for over 50 years, life member of the Riviera Country Club and an honorary member of the Heritage Harbor Golf and Country Club in Lutz, Fl where he spent many winter days. Vince was a free spirit and lived life to the fullest, an avid golfer that loved playing golf with his sons and friends almost every day. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. As per Vince?s request there will be no viewing. Celebrate the great life he had and smile when you think of him.
Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 6:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father William A. Metzger, officiating. The family will receive friends and family following the service at the church.
The Scartz family extends a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the James Cancer Clinic.
In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Vince?s memory to the Arthur G. James Cancer Clinic at Ohio State University Medical Center.
