Walter E. Crane, 78, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. Walt was born September 14th, 1926 in Nelsonville, the son of the late Everett and Margaret Gaspers Crane. He was married to Shirley Locke Crane for 56 years. She survives.

Walt was a retired supervisor at A.E.P. after 35 years, was an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, was a member of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church in Buchtel, Honorary Lifetime member of the Nelsonville Elks Lodge 543, a member of the Nelsonville VFW, Murray City American Legion, National and Ohio Trappers Associations, the Civil War Preservation Society, and was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by three daughters, Betsy Jerome Campbell of Harrison City Pennsylvania, Jean Marie Dishong and Angela Tim Peacock, both of Buchtel, 9 grandchildren, and one sister, Shirley Dishong of Coshocton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Irwin, and two brothers, Ted and Lew Crane.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church in Buchtel with Father John Mucha officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home, with a wake service being held at 2:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Supreme Emblem Grant in Aid Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 161, Nelsonville, OH 45764.
