Larry Lyons

Larry Lyons, 65, of Chauncey, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005 at his residence. He was born May 18, 1939 in Chauncey, the son of the late David T. and Dorothy Gillespie Lyons. He was married to Bobbie Sue Riley Lyons for 30 years. She survives.

Larry was a retired Athens Police officer after serving 28 years on the force. He was the crime prevention and D.A.R.E. officer for the city of Athens. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, and boating.

He is survived by one son, Larry Lisa Chilcote Lyons Jr. of The Plains, two daughters, Jennifer Jeff Stull of Nelsonville, Pam Bailey of Athens, four grandchildren, McKenna Lyons, April TJ Vale, Robert Bagley, Vickie Jarvis, two great grandchildren, Tanner and Tommy Vale, brothers Dick Marta Kay Lyons of Albany, Jim Loretta Lyons of Chauncey, David Tammy Lyons of Nelsonville, Brother in Law Ron Leta Riley of Nelsonville, sisters, Mary Joe Cooper Snow of Athens, Janet Rich Wion of New Lexington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, PJ, and two grandsons, Leroy and Roger Bailey.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 5:00 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Pastor Dave Cogar officiating. In-Urnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call Saturday from 3-5 P.M. at the funeral home.
