Edith Virgene Lowery

January 7, 1911 — February 21, 2005

Edith V. Lowery, 94, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, February 21, 2005 at O?Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens. Edith was born January 7, 1911 in Athens County, the daughter of the late Daniel and Belle Wadley Smith. She was the widow of the late Morris Lowery.

Edith was a member of the Oak Grove Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by two sons Kenneth and Harold Esther Lowery both of Nelsonville; three daughters, Evelyn Sam Buffington of The Plains, Edna Mae James Levering of Nelsonville and Diane Larry Pidcock of New Marshfield; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, one brother, Charles Erma Smith of Columbus and a special nephew, Bill Smith.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Morris, she was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Morris Lowery Jr.; two daughters, Ann and Janis Lowery; two brothers, Bill and Elmo Smith and three sisters, Lucille Bray, Audrey Pierce and Minnie Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at 12:00 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Pastor David Cogar officiating. Interment will be at Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
