Viola L. Six, 85, of Athens, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville. Viola was born December 20, 1919 in Athens County, the daughter of the late Ruben and Elizabeth Eton Pierce. She was married to Birgie Six, who passed away December 19, 2004, for 64 years.
Viola was a past treasurer of the Nelsonville Senior Citizens and she attended the Salem Church.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Ruth Six of Nelsonville, Rick Peg Six of Athens, Vernon Kim Six of Albany and Ray Betty Six of Nelsonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Leona Richard Timblin of Guysville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one brother, John Pierce of Chauncey; daughters-in-law, Dorothy Charlie Grinstead and Linda Richard Holcomb both of Millfield; sister-in-law, Mary Pierce of Salem; brother-in-law, Harold Six of Nelsonville; several nieces, nephews and cousins and special friends, Roy Louise Hamilton of Athens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Birgie; two sons, James E. and Dennis Six; six brothers, Herb, Forrest, Albert, Willard, Marion and Clay Pierce and a sister, Ora Bruce.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Gary Alton officiating. Interment will be at Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
