Edna Oliver

Edna Oliver, 96, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, March 14th, 2005 at her residence. She was born October 19th, 1908 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Jess and Laura Steenrod Shafer. She was married to the late Oscar Oliver on February 14th, 1939.

Edna worked for the William Brooks Shoe Company, was a reporter for the Nelsonville Tribune, and worked for the Columbus Citizen. She loved to travel, read, garden, and spend time with her family and grandchildren. She was a descendant of Daniel Nelson, founder of Nelsonville, and was a past member of the First Christian Church.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Judy Oliver of Granville, two grandchildren, Ann Marie Derek Fisher of Mt. Vernon, Nathan Aisha Oliver of Lima, five great-grandchildren, Aisha, Isabella, Arianna, Connor, and Landon.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George L. and Tom Shafer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19th, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street Nelsonville. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
