Jimmie W. Pierce, 55, of Ft. Pierce, Florida, formerly of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Hospice of Martin and St. Lucie, Florida. He was born September 22, 1949 in Logan, the son of the late James W. Pierce and Marjorie Thomas Blair Riley of Nelsonville. He was married to Billie Ann Bowens Pierce of Ft. Pierce, Florida, for 21 years.

He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Comendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, Air Medal and a Purple Heart; a life member of VFW Post 3467, Nelsonville, past district 12 commander, department of Ohio and served for 17 years as service officer; member of the American Legion Post 358 White City, department of Florida and was the current second term, district 12 commander, department of Florida; member of the sons of the American Legion, post 358 White City, Department of Florida; a charter member of the Vierra Elks, Vierra, FL; Member of Moose Lodge of Tallahasee, Florida; member of Amvets post 15, Ft. Pierce, FL; He was a member of the former Philodorian Lodge, Nelsonville, he was a 32 degree mason, a member of the Blue Lodge and of the Hillbilly Shriners; He was past General Chairman, Parade Chairman and member of the Board of Trustees of the Parade of the Hills Committee; and was a former volunteer Fireman for the Nelsonville Fire Department.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by, two sons, Jimmie Cassandra Harra Pierce of Vincent and Jeffrey Heather Freer of Nelsonville; seven daughters, Jeanette Andrew Arnold of Churchtown, Jamie Pierce of Pickerington, Jackie Pierce of Belpre, Holly Scott Deal Freer of Port St. Lucie, FL, Cassie Freer of Miami, FL, Angel Hershey Snyder Freer of Nelsonville and Gina Francalancia of Miami, FL; nineteen grandchildren, two sisters, Marjorie Steve Mowery of Logan, and Lori Pierce and Anita Mondo both of Nelsonville; a sister-in-law, Margie Ann Pierce of Nelsonville, as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Pierce.

A funeral liturgy with mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 5, 2005 at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, Buchtel with Father John Mucha officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville where a wake service will be held at 2:30 PM and an Elks service will be held at 7:30 PM
