Margaret L. Phillips

Margaret L. Phillips, 83, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center in The Plains. She was born February 18, 1922 in Athens County, the daughter of the late John and Nancy Hopkins Smith. She was the widow of the late John L. Phillips.

She is survived by one son, Richard Barb Phillips of Nelsonville, three daughters, Janet Smith of Nelsonville, Linda Bob Smathers of Buchtel, and Christine Bennett of Nelsonville, 17 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Ellen Raymond Calvert of Buchtel, Violet Larry Simms of Alabama, and a very special friend, Mary Jane Bateman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary, sister?s Dorothy, Elsie, Virginia, and Aldene, brothers Frank, Hershel, John and Arthur, and two sons in laws, Lawrence ?Trix? Smathers and Mark Bennett.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 15, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Reverend Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
