Charles William Cheatham, 76, of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in The Plains. He was born January 6, 1929, in Middleport, son of the late Elsworth and Lillian Cheatham. He is preceded in death by his 1st wife Mary Ann Cheatham and is survived by his 2nd wife Alice C. Leedy Cheatham of The Plains.

Charles joined the Army when he was 17 years old, training in camps at Fort Knox, KY, Camp Atterbury, IN, Camp Stoneman, CA and serving during WWII. He was an honorable member of A.F.O.P. & C.I.A., reported for the Police Times Magazine and a member of the Redtown Church.

He is survived by four sons, Larry Robinson of Green Valley, OH, Roy Pamela Robinson of Shade, John R. Sharon Cox of Chillicothe and Alvin Robinson Jr. of Columbus; seven daughters, Mary Louise Dixon of Shade, Patricia Robinson of Albany, Kim Sue Frank Icker of Shade, Marilyn John Icker of Albany, Jackie Robinson of Albany, Kathy Rick McGee of Chauncey and Liz Robinson of Shade; several grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Alice May Donley of Erie, PA.

In addition to his parents and first wife Mary Ann Charles was preceded in death by a son Wyatt Robinson and a brother Larry E. Cheatham.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home 30 Main St. Glouster, with Pastor Dave Edgell, officiating. Interment will be in Shade Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Graveside military services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
