Walden C. ?Snack? Deal, 86, of Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at Mark Rest Center in McConnelsville. He was born November 7, 1918, in Jacksonville, son of the late John and Agnes Barrett Deal. He was married to Betty Tinkham Deal, who survives.

Snack was a World War II Army Veteran, and retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Glouster, a charter member of the VFW post 9866 in Jacksonville, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans in Athens, and was a life long member of the Athens County Democratic Party.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Charles Shafer of Pataskala, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a nephew, John Kinney of Ravenna.

In addition to his parents, Snack was preceded in death by one son, Charles Scott Funk, one brother Rolland Deal, sisters Marina Deal, Lillian Kinney, and Evelyn Deal.

A Funeral Liturgy with mass will be held Saturday, 10 A.M., at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Glouster, with Father John Mucha officiating. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Military services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

Friends may call Friday at Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main Street, Glouster from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
