Joe A. Glass

Joe A. Glass, 59, of The Plains, formerly of Nelsonville passed away Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains. He was born November 6, 1946 in The Plains, the son of the late Gerald and Ruth Darnell Glass.

Joe was a retired Boilermaker with Boilermakers Union Local 105 in Piketon. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was a graduate of Nelsonville High School. He was a former member of the Nelsonville 10-4 CB club and was currently active in many activities at Hickory Creek including delivering everyone?s newspaper.

He is survived by his loving adopted family, Eleanore and Dick Russell of The Plains and their children and grandchildren; longtime friends Bob and Becky Clark of Nelsonville; many friends at Hickory Creek Nursing Center; several nieces and nephews and a brother, Gary Glass of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Rutter.

At the request of Mr. Glass, his body has been cremated and there will be no public visitation observed. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at the West Union St. Cemetery in Athens with Jeff Wallace officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.

Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
