Gertrude F. Stufflebean, 83, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, January 6, 2006 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in The Plains. She was born May 14, 1922 in Athens County, the daughter of the late Fred and Alberta Bowlen Maloney. She was married at the age of 16 to John Stufflebean, who passed away in May, 1986.

Gertrude was loved by everyone she met. She retired from Brooks Shoe Company after 42 years of service. She was actively involved in the Nelsonville Greyhound Athletic Association, she attended the Nelsonville Presbyterian church, was a member of the Emblem Club #97, the VFW Ladies Auxilliary #3467, and was a member of the Nelsonville TWIG #7.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Joanna Stufflebean of Glouster, Jerry Sharon Stufflebean of Aurora, her special daughter Angela friend Donna Jenkins Stufflebean of Glouster, 14 grandchildren, Brian Laura, Chris Erika, Rosa, Anna, Lauryn, Victoria, Justin and Troy Stufflebean, Paula Tim Maiden, D.J. Benny Mays, Tracy Mike Chapman, Amy Mike Fronek, and Holly Joe Robinson. In addition, she had 20 beautiful great grandchildren, sister?s Reba Pietrocini, Juanita Chessire, and a step sister Shirley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by her son Larry ?Lynn? Stufflebean, brothers William and Orlando, and sisters Leoda, Cyreda, and Audrey.

A very special thanks from the family of Gertrude to all the staff at Hickory Creek for the wonderful care and affection shown to our mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Pastor Chris Stufflebean officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
