Ed Blackford Jr.

Ed "Junebug" Blackford Jr., 82, of The Plains, passed away Saturday, April 1st, 2006 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home. He was born May 14, 1923 in Athens County, the son of the late Edward Blackford Sr., and Dorothy Cline Blackford.

Junebug was a naval veteran of WWII where he was stationed in the Pacific, was a member of the Mcconellsville AmVets, Moose, and the VFW. He also was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by sons Edward Patricia Blackford of Adams, NY, Raymond Susan Blackford of LaFargeville, NY, Stephen Marsha Blackford of Jacksonville, FL, and Stanley Christine Blackford of Sackets Harbor, NY; one daughter, Emily Tucker of Watertown, NY, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by brothers Tink, Mick and Bunk and sister's Gail, Florence, Helen and Pat.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 6th, 2006 at 7:00 PM at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Pastor Dave Cogar officiating. Burial will be in West Union Cemetery, Athens, at a later date.
