Gerald Koska Sr.

Gerald Lee Koska Sr., 77, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Logan Health Care Center. He was born March 31, 1929 in Athens County, the son of the late Charles P. Koska and Pansy McMaster Koska Heavner. He was the widow of the late JoAnn James Koska.

Gerald was a retired Ironworker with West Virginia local 788. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a life member of the Nelsonville VFW Post 3467, Disabled American Veterans, American Motorcycle Association, Hall of Constitution Lodge No. 426, F &AM, Nelsonville Senior Citizens and attended the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by four sons, Gerald Sandy Koska Jr. of Buchtel, James Tammy Hamilton Koska of Logan, Richard Koska of Nelsonville and Phillip Kathy Koska of Athens; two daughters, JoAnn McGee of Nelsonville and Christine Charles Sheets of Athens; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; five sisters, Virginia Stephen Cooper, Patty Leonard Zimmerman, Clara Curtis Wooten, Dorothy Ralph Zimmerman and Verna Lewis Morris all of Athens; and a special friend, Joan Thomas of Glouster.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Koska was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Koska and a stepfather, Fred Heavner.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 14, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
