Billy ?B.J.? Joe Warren, 57, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006 at his residence. He was born October 25, 1948 in Chauncey, Ohio, son of the late James Warren and Ola Perry Cunningham. B.J. was married to Roberta ?Bobbie? Lent Warren, who survives, for 30 years.

He graduated from Buchtel High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War and has been the commander of The Plains VFW Post 7174 for three years. B.J. was Chief of Police in Chauncey, then for many years in Glouster and was a Special Deputy for the Athens Co. Sheriffs office. He retired from Septa Center where he was a corrections supervisor. A member of Faith Tabernacle Church, he also enjoyed fishing, sports, and playing cards with his friends.

B.J. is survived by his wife, as well as three sons, Tim Kristen Gowen, Chad Melissa Warren and Matt Carrie Warren all of Nelsonville; one daughter, Kim Gowen of Nelsonville; five grandchildren, Kayla, Mackenzie, Madison, Bryce, and Ciearra; three brothers, Randy Debbie Warren of Nelsonville, Chuck Warren of Union Furnace and Jim Warren; two sisters, Lisa Tim Wolfe and Carla Steve Wolfe both of Lancaster; mother-in-law Helen Lent of Nelsonville; stepfather Bob Cunningham of Nelsonville; stepmother Helen Warren of Chauncey; brother-in-laws Ray Sherl Lent of Athens and James Lent of Nelsonville: special cousin Lee Alice Bartlett of Athens and many other special friends and family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Roxanne Winchell and father-in-law Bob Lent.

Friends and family may call at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. with cremation to follow. A memorial service will be held 4 PM, Sunday, July 23, 2006 at The Plains VFW Post.

The family suggests contributions in B.J.?s memory be made to Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home.
