Floyd Alan Champ

Alan Champ, 62, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, July 4th, 2006 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Zanesville. He was born February 3rd, 1944 in Barberton Ohio, son of the late Floyd and Elaine Wolfe Champ. He was married to Sandy Hinkle Champ for 27 years. They were the best of friends.

Alan retired from GE in Logan after 38 years of service where he worked in the sheet maintenance department. He was a member of the Logan Eagles, Nelsonville Elks, Logan Moose Lodge, Sons of the VFW in Nelsonville, North American Hunting Club, was an avid bowler and pool player, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding quads, and spending long summers with his kids and grand kids on the river, tubing and skiing with grandpa always driving the boat. Heaven has truly gained a wonderful person. The loss here will be felt by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Sandy, Alan is survived by two sons, Kevin Lisa Newman of Corning, Mike Champ of Shawnee, four daughters, Teri Clint Brown of New Straitsville, Lisa Sturgill of Corning, Angie Eric Zeigler of Thornville, Debbie Newman of Logan, 17 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, two sisters, Louise Chuck Walter of Carbon Hill, Linda David Rife of Zanesville, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Alan Champ.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 8th, 2006 at 10A.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville. Interment will be in Carbon Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, July 7th, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
