Ralph O. Langel

Ralph O. Langel, 82, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in Pine Hills Continuing Care Center, Nelsonville. He was born February 12, 1924 in Pomeroy, Ohio, son of the late Clarence O. and Elizabeth Guess Langel. He was the widow of Joan Fellem Langel who died September 25, 2005.

He was a driver and salesman for Pepsi Cola and Jacks Distributing in Nelsonville. He was a WWII Army Veteran, Pvt. First Class in Company #3205 Quartermaster Service Company. Ralph was a member of the Combat Engineers and participated in D-Day and the invasion of Normandy landing on Omaha Beach. He also served in France.

Ralph is survived by two stepsons, Ron Cynthia Brimner of Tampa, Florida and John Mary Lou Brimner of Fort Wayne Indiana; five grandchildren, Hudson, Megan, Jason, John, and Andrea; several great grandchildren; special nieces and nephews Mary Jane Lax, Lucretia and Fred Adams, Judy and Mike Crihfield, Connie and Gary Hazlett, Kathy and Jarret Stage, Susan and John Whitmore, Hubert Dalton, Charles Dalton, Joe and Kathleen Dalton and special friends Gay Dalzee and Dr. Reuben Flores.

He was preceded in death by a sister Erma Geary, and two brothers Roy and Kenneth Langel.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in West Union Street Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit.
