Orvil C. Midkiff

Orvil C. ?Peach? Midkiff, 74, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, September 4, 2006 at Medcentral Health System, Mansfield. He was born March 2, 1932 in Nelsonville, the son of the late Orvil C. and Ethel Rawlings Midkiff. He was married to Alma Jo Anderson Midkiff of Nelsonville, for 50 years.

He retired, after 42 ½ years, from AEP, where he was a Telecommunications supervisor. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First Christian Church of Nelsonville. Peach was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol, was a licensed pilot and even owned his own plane at one time.

In addition to his wife, Peach is survived by a son, Dr. Anthony J. Kim Midkiff of Mansfield; a daughter, Melissa Eric Mohney of Massillon; five grandchildren, Tod, Alex, Matthew, Brittany and Kristina; a brother, Paul Betty Jean Midkiff of Nelsonville and three sisters, Jane Canter, Sally Robert Shinn and Jean Whitlatch all of Nelsonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Warner Midkiff and two sisters, Garnet Withem and Maxine Dixon.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Pastor Tom Hanning officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church - Disciples of Christ, 200 Fort St., Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.
