John D. Hartley

May 19, 1941 — December 10, 2006

John D. Hartley, 65, of Logan passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan. He was born May 19, 1941 in Athens County, son of the late Clarence Hartley and Anna Lawrence Bunthoff Hartley Cagg.

John was a maintenance supervisor for Purex in London and a former employee of Carborundum in Logan. He graduated from Buchtel High School in 1959. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1959-1968 in Korea and the Vietnam War. John attended the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Nelsonville Lions Club.

He is survived by one son, Duane Angie Hartley of Circleville; one daughter, Becky Keith Andrews of Albany; three grandchildren Levi, Wyatt, and Rachel Andrews; two brothers, ?Pete? Clarence Jan Hartley of Logan and Gary Cagg of Nelsonville; two sisters, Mary Ann Robert Rittgers of Lancaster and Jane Mike Shea of Jacksonville and former wife Sue Hartley of Nelsonville.

In addititon to his parents, John is preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Neal Hartley; sister, Virginia Stump and mother and father in-law Leonard and Ada Pidcock.

Funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
