William Gene Vaughn

William Gene Vaughn, 78, of Logan, passed away Monday, January 8, 2007 in Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland Florida. He was born June 8, 1928 in Hollister, Ohio, son of the late Charles and Isabell Waldeck Vaughn. Bill was married to JoAnn Foltz Vaughn for 57 years who survives.

He grew up in Nelsonville where he graduated from high school and also graduated from Ohio University in 1950 with a Bachelors degree in civil engineering. After graduation he was assistant Athens County Engineer. Bill was in the Army Transportation Research and Development as an engineer at Fort Eustis, Virginia. After leaving the service, he was in business with his father in the Vaughn Coal and Clay Co. before starting Hocking Valley Concrete in 1956. Bill was an avid fisherman and golfer and spent 25 winters in Vero Beach, Florida before recently moving to The Villages, Florida.

Bill is survived by his wife, two sons, Mark C. Vaughn and David J.
Deborah Vaughn both of Logan; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Christina, Tyler, Andrew, Alyssa and Eric all of Logan and a brother, H. Dean Vaughn of Lancaster.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday in the Cardaras Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Rev. Jason Everidge officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8PM.
