Robert Eugene Riley

Robert E. ?Bobby Gene? Riley, 66, of Nelsonville and Nokomis, Florida, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Venice Regional Medical Center, Venice, Florida. He was born August 1, 1940 in Nelsonville, son of Thomas Marjorie Riley Jr. of Nelsonville and the late Mary Tennihill Pitts. He was married to Carolyn Collins Riley of Nelsonville, for 43 years.

He graduated from Nelsonville High School in 1958, was retired from the United States Air Force and was former owner and operator of Riley Cycle Sales. He was a life member of Nelsonville VFW Post 3467 and the Disabled American Veterans and a member of Paralized Veterans of America and Nelsonville Elks Lodge BPOE #543.

In addition to his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by four children, Pat Riley of Nelsonville, Colleen Kevin Goundrey of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Michael Christina Riley of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Erin Chip Wood of Coeur d?Alene, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Josh and Sean Goundrey, Rob, Rene and Rebecca Riley, Megan and Jack Wood; four brothers, Pat Jane Riley of Granville, Don Lissa Riley of Athens, Joe Janet Riley of Nelsonville and David Rose Riley of Athens; three sisters, Deb Greg Fraunfelter of Logan, Janet Riley of Nelsonville and Barb Ed Flowers of Carbon Hill; an aunt, Eileen Raymond Williams of Nelsonville; father-in-law, Virgil Collins and many nieces and nephews and friends.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Jimmy Pitts and a brother, Mark Riley.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Father John Mucha officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville where a military graveside service will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home where an ELKS Service will be conducted at 7:30 PM.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Greenpeace, 702 H Street, NW, Suite 300, Washington DC, 20001 or to the Cousteau Society, 710 Settlers Landing Rd., Hampton, VA 23669.
