Robert E. Redd, 86, of Logan, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. He was born August 4, 1920 in Logan, son of the late Robert R. and Charlotte B. Bell Redd. Robert was married for 58 years to the late Clara Mae Myers Redd.

He retired as a mechanic after 40 years at Logan Clay Products. Robert was awarded the Hocking Hills State Parks Heart of Ohio award in 1992; he won numerous international awards for designing jewelry and was a life member of the Hocking County Historical Society and the Hocking Chapter of the Ohio Genealogy Society. He was also a member of the Hocking County Tourism where he was a volunteer, a member of the Hocking Hills Artists and Craftsmen since 1977 where he was president for 14 years and received the Living Treasure Award in 1984 and was the State Secretary of the Ohio LST/ AMPHIB Association. He served two years in the US Navy WWII Pacific Theatre aboard LST 464 and three years in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He is survived by one son, Thomas E. Madelyn Redd of Logan; one daughter, Karolyn George Lackey of Cadillac, Michigan; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Jane Paul Howdyshell of Logan and friend Yvonne Struble of Logan.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, William Redd.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Cardaras Funeral Home 183 E. Second St., Logan with Rev. Brian Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan where military graveside services will be conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 966, Logan, OH 43138.
