Thomas J. Ferguson, 61, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at his residence. He was born March 23, 1946 in Junction City, Ohio, son of Bonnie Jean Lucas Ferguson of Junction City and the late James Donald Ferguson. Tom was married to Maryjane Harrel Ferguson, who survives.

He was the owner of McArthur Super Valu, an Army National Guard Veteran, a member of the Vinton County Chamber of Commerce where he was the former Treasurer and Vinton County Person of the Year in 2006. Tom was a member and past president of the Vinton County MRDD Board and a former member of the Vinton Industries Board. He was on three boards at the Vinton County Health Department, a member of Vinton County Amateur Radio Club, a member of Wilkesville Post #476 of the American Legion, a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles A.E.R.I.E. #2276 of Vinton County, a member of Moose Lodge of Jackson, a member of the Athens Fish and Game Club, the Hocking Valley Gun Club and the N.R.A.

In addition to his wife and mother, Tom is survived by one son, Thomas J. Tammy Ferguson Jr. of Logan; three daughters, Bonnie Lawson, Ashleigh Ferguson and Emily Ferguson all of McArthur; one stepdaughter, Kari Foster of Thurman; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, William Trudee Ferguson of Ashtabula, Don Gayle Ferguson of Somerset and Mike Jan Ferguson of New Lexington and three sisters, Donna William Hinkle of New Lexington, Marianne Ernie Decot of McArthur and Ruth Ann Ed Fondale of Junction City.

Tom was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Rose Marie Ferguson.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the McArthur United Methodist Church, 200 S. Market St., McArthur, with Evangelist Michael Whitehead and Elder Bruce Dillon officiating. Burial will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur at a later date with Military Graveside Services. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Friday from 2-8 P.M. where Rosary services will be held at 8 P.M. and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services.
