Virginia M. Reynolds, 86, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. She was born October 25, 1920 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Frank and Hazel Kelley Rickey. Virginia was the widow of Samuel M. Reynolds.
She was a former Postmaster in South Bloomingville, she worked for the State of Ohio Parks System and attended the McArthur Freewill Baptist Church. Virginia was also Past Worthy Matron and a member of Serno Chapter # 128 O.E.S. in McArthur and was active in the Vinton County Genealogy Society.
She is survived by one son, Larry Judy Reynolds of Lancaster; one daughter, Catherine Jon Lane of Godmanchester England; eight grandchildren, Andrew, David, Rebecca, Catherine, Cynthia, Jennifer, Virginia and Daniel; seven great grandchildren, Victoria, Joanna, Christa, Joseph, Emily, Allie and Wyatt; one brother, Thomas F. Rickey of Chillicothe; one sister, Alma Miller of Columbus; son-in-law, Howard Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and special friends Ann and Lawrence Gingerich and Janell and Danny Thompson. The family would also like to give sincere thanks to Dr. John Ireton and his staff, the skilled nursing at Hocking Valley Community Hospital and the staff at the Carlin House.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a daughter JoAnne Brown and granddaughter Lisa Kate Reynolds.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. James Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Eastern Star Services will be conducted at 7:30PM Monday.
