William Russell Hougland, 73, of New Plymouth, passed away Friday, July 6, 2007 at the V.A. Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born January 26, 1934 in Vinton County, son of the late Russell and Mary Martin Hougland.
William retired from Austin Powder and ITL. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. William was a member of the McArthur VFW, the McArthur Eagles and the American Legion.
William was survived by one son, Randy Hougland of McArthur; three daughters, Thressa Troy White of Smithville, Tennessee, Michelle Bill Taylor of New Plymouth and Tammy Hougland of Smithville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one sister, Nancy Collins of Wellston.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Hougland and three sisters, Sylvia Vitito, Wilma Hougland and Mary Collins.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2007 at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. As per Willie?s wishes, no calling hours will be observed and cremation will follow the services. Military services will be conducted by the Vinton County VFW Post #5299.
