Sherman Wayne Perkins, Jr.

Sherman Wayne Perkins Jr., 24, of Nelsonville, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 at his residence. He was born April 12, 1983 in Logan, son of Diane Mark McGuire of Nelsonville and the late Sherman W. Perkins Sr.

Sherman earned an associate degree from Hocking College and was currently a student of the University of Rio Grande through Hocking College. He was a member of the Buchtel United Methodist Church. Sherman played football from elementary school all the way through high school and was an avid sports fan. He loved watching all kinds of sports on television and playing basketball with his friends at Hocking College.

He is survived by his parents, Diane and Mark McGuire of Nelsonville; sisters, Mary Jean William Hanna of Guysville and Melissa Rick Herzog of Nelsonville; stepsister, Kristina McGuire of Nelsonville; stepbrother, Ryan McGuire of Nelsonville, grandmother, Phyllis Arnold of Nelsonville; step grandparents, Franklin Vera McGuire of Nelsonville; nieces and nephews, Billy, Bobby, Emily, Elijah, Aiden, Collin and Trevis and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a stepsister, Katrina Taggart.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev Ernie Perkins and Rev. David Shoemaker officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Monday from 2-8 PM at the funeral home.
