James Robert Bob King

January 21, 1927 — July 18, 2007

James Robert ?Bob? King, 80, went to Heaven July 18, 2007. He was born January 21, 1927 in Logan, son of the late James R. ?Jim Bob? King Sr. and Sylvia Marie Hoss King. Bob was married to Mary Ann ?Nan? Geiger King, who survives. They were married for 54 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a swimming instructor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He later graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in engineering and Amherst College for further education. Working with Geiger Brothers Plumbing after graduation he later became the business owner. During this tenure he designed and oversaw several private and governmental projects to include several schools in Southeastern Ohio.

He was a member of the Logan Rotary Club and a board member of the Logan Holl Foundation, providing grant monies for worthy projects within the Logan Hocking area.

His membership was later solicited into the ?Ohio Commodores?, a very elite organization of both business and high ranking political figures to include the state governor. Member of the Hocking Conservancy District Board of Directors for over 25 years, he was charged with oversight of monitoring the Hocking River and contributories. He was a board member of the Farmers & Merchants Bank, later BancOhio. He was also a director, president and chairman of the Logan Trade Club, Inc

Bob, working with the Chamber of Commerce and state officials, was successful in locating a Lockheed plant old Goodyear II in the Logan area. Along with this feat, working with Governor Rhodes, he was instrumental in ensuring the U.S 33 highway project in order to improve area commerce.

In addition to his wife, Bob was survived by three sons, Kurt Colleen King of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Kris Holly Fitzsimmons King of Cincinnati and Kreg Ron Owens King of Cincinnati; two daughters, Kim Aaron Miller of Logan and Kerri Jason Pollet of Columbus; four grandchildren, Isaac Heather Garlington of Augusta, Georgia, Nicki Tyler King Miller of Logan, Daniel Barnett of Cincinnati and Samuel King of Port St., Lucie, Florida and one brother, B.J. Linda King of Logan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Kathy Barnett and one sister, Margueritte Kleinschmidt.

Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Friday, July 20, 2007 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. James Lambert officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-8 P.M.
