Forest Messer

August 29, 1929 — July 30, 2007

Forest Messer, 77, of Hamden, passed away Monday, July 30, 2007 at his residence. He was born August 29, 1929 in Wayne County, West Virginia, son of the late Lonnie and Vadie Opal Hall Messer. Forest was married to Merlie Fuller Messer for 57 years, who survives.

He worked for 35 years as a sound tester at Timken Company in Columbus.

He is survived by one son, Jerry Messer of Reynoldsburg; four daughters, Ruth Rod Helton of Reynoldsburg, Sandra Malaby of Aiken, South Carolina, Janet Avila of Aiken South Carolina and Rita Basham of Reynoldsburg; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; six brothers, Walter Francis Messer of Etna, Ohio, Troy Mary Messer of Painesville, Ohio, Ernest Mary Messer of Pataskala, Dewey Annette Messer of Etna, Ohio, Jesse Wanda Messer of Etna, Ohio and Eugene Cathy Messer of Etna, Ohio; three sisters Ruth Williamson of Columbus, Lillian Zeek of Kermit, West Virginia and Mary William Smyers of Pataskala; numerous nieces and nephews and two sister-in-laws, Myrtle Damron of Indiana and Gracialla Messer of Texas.

In addition to his parents, Forest is preceded in death by one son, Don Messer and one brother, Claude Messer.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Reynoldsburg Freewill Baptist Church, 9508 Taylor Rd., Reynoldsburg, with Pastor Jerry Sargent officiating. Interment will be in Glen Rest Memorial Cemetery, Reynoldsburg. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. and on Thursday at the church in Reynoldsburg from 11 A.M. until the time of the services.
