Edith Merreleen North

Edith Merreleen North, 81, of Nelsonville, passed away, Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the home of her daughter, in Wellston. She was born May 26, 1926 in Carbon Hill, Ohio, daughter of the late Merrel ?Cy? Shultz and Marie Guess Shultz. Merreleen was the widow of the late Oria E. North who passed away in 1991.

She owned and operated Merreleen?s Beauty Shop and was a Carbon Hill High School graduate. Merreleen was also a past member of the Community Benefit Club and a current member of the Queen Esther Class.

She is survived by one son, Lanny Kathy North of Logan; one daughter, Pam Scott Coffman of Wellston and five grandchildren, Jeff North of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kevin Coffman of Wellston, Kristin Kevin Peacock of Chicago, Illinois, Michelle Kuhn of Ray, Ohio and Jami Shufeldt of Columbus.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a half-sister, Mary Margaret Shuttleworth and step-mother, Dori Shultz.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 P.M., Saturday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville with Rev. Karen Walters officiating. At Merreleens request, no calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
