Ernie Lamar Kruger

Ernie Lamar Kruger, 87, of McArthur, passed from this life to be with the lord on Friday, September 21, 2007 at Twin Maples Nursing Home in McArthur. He was born September 25, 1919 in Jackson Township, Vinton County, son of the late Charlie and Goldie Cozad Kruger. Lamar was married to Donna Dearth Kruger on August 13, 1940, who survives.

He was a member of the Allensville Church of Christ in Christian Union since 1951, and served for several decades in various roles, including Trustee, Elder and Treasurer. Lamar also served his country with the US Navy in the Pacific Ocean, during World War II. He was a full-time or part-time farmer through all of his working life. He also had 37 years of service as a custodian and bus driver in the Vinton County Local School System, from which he retired in 1990. He was a loving and loyal son, brother, father, grandfather and servant of God.

Lamar is survived by two sons, Fred Martha Kruger and Jeff Karen Kruger both of McArthur; two granddaughters, Marsha Scott Burns and Angelica Rick Reynolds both of McArthur; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Paige Burns of McArthur; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Molihan of Zaleski and Gloria Jean Sowers of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lamar was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Kruger; two sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law.

Graveside services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, September 23, 2007 in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with Rev. Johnny Thacker officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
