Gregory Russell Campbell

Gregory Russell Campbell, 57, of Millfield, formerly of Nelsonville, passed away, Monday, October 1, 2007 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born January 20, 1950 in Logan, son of Doris Call Campbell of The Plains.

Greg reluctantly retired from Ohio University after 17 years, where he was involved in technical support and computer programming. He previously worked for 17 years at Goodyear in Logan. He had many interests in his life and was very involved in all of them. He was the founder of G. Campbell?s Garlic Farm and held an annual garlic harvest festival. A member of the Antique Motorcycle Club, he loved to restore vintage cars and motorcycles. He was a motorcycle rider and enthusiast from the time he was just a toddler and loved to journey to Sturgis, S.D., Daytona Beach, and other locations for motorcycle rallies.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by wife, Jean Marie Cackowski-Campbell of Millfield; a daughter, Kristin Marie Campbell of Athens, his beloved Boxer, Clove and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Ruth Call.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Athens Elks Lodge BPOE # 973, 600 W. Union St., Athens, Ohio 45701. Friends and family are invited to meet at the Nelsonville Public Square at 10:00 AM on their motorcycles for a ride down to the Athens ELKS Lodge. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
