Donald Arthur Newton

Donald Arthur Newton, 71, of Nelsonville, passed away, Monday, December 3, 2007 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus. He was born June 14, 1936 in Nelsonville, son of the late Lawrence and Letha McMannis Newton.

Don was a graduate of Nelsonville High School and retired from the Ohio University Police Department. He was a member of Mingo Lodge #171, Shriner of the Aladdin Shrine, Columbus, and was Past Master of Philodorian Lodge #157. Member of Logan Moose Lodge #873 , Logan Amvets Post 1776, Nelsonville Eagles Aerie #391 and Nelsonville Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #543 and numerous other local organizations

He is survived by sons, Donald L. Karen Newton of Radcliff and Robert A. Bonnie Newton of Chillicothe; daughter, Elaine Richard Wyckoff of Morgan County; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Bob Wilson of Nelsonville

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Lott

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 7, 2007 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. King Kelly officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be conducted at 6:00 PM.
