Services for former Glouster resident, Ruth Evelyn Plunkett Teater, 90, will be Friday, December 14, at 2:00 PM at Cardaras Funeral Home in Glouster, Ohio with Dr. Larry Bishop, minister of the Cynthiana Kentucky Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Glouster.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until the time of services.
Mrs. Teater resided at the Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana, Kentucky, for the last year and four months of her Alzheimer's affliction. She was under Hospice of the Bluegrass care. She died with complications following an apparent stroke on December 10, 2007.
Born in Pleasant Plains, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen Collins Plunkett.
Mrs. Teater was the widow of a well known former local minister, Daniel K. Teater, Sr. They served the Glouster Church of Christ from 1946 to 1961. Since his retirement from resident ministry in 1972, they served the Oakdale and Concord Churches until ""Dan's"" death in 1988. They had 49 years
of ministry together, also including congregations in Athens, Ill, Huntington, W. Va, and Amelia, Bowersville and Franklin, Ohio. She also resided at the Mason Christian Village in Mason, Ohio after her husband's death. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and numerous social and study clubs of Glouster.
She worked through the years as a nurse's aide in the Athens hospital, bookkeeper for the Cincinnati Berean Bookstore, manager of the Xenia, Ohio, Berean Bookstore and Glouster correspondent for the Athens Messenger.
Many will remember ""Ruth"" as the teen choir director and Christmas play director at the Glouster Church of Christ and as their church camp nurse during the 1950's.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters in law, Daniel K. Jr Donna of Springboro, Ohio, and Timothy F. Bonnie of Cynthiana, Kentucky; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 1317 Highway 62 East, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
