Hazel Annabelle Shoemaker

Hazel Annabelle Shoemaker, 91, of Hamden, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007, at her residence. She was born September 5, 1916, in Cottageville, West Virginia, daughter of the late Gay and Essie Knotts Curfman. Hazel was the widow of the late Harry Shoemaker.

She was a member of Puritan Free Will Baptist Church in Hamden.

Hazel is survived by one son, Paul M. Katie Shoemaker of Cheshire; two daughters, Hilda J. Cross of Athens and Doris K. Ronald Wilbur of Hamden; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one sister, Daisy Barnett of Hometown, West Virginia.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and William Ershel Curfman and a son-in-law, Arthur Cross.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. David McKnight officiating. Interment will be in Vinton Memorial Cemetery, Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 P.M.
