Jennie May Thompson

Jennie M. Thompson, 81, of Nelsonville, passed away, Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. She was born April 25, 1926 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Smith and Gretchen Spray Sherburn. She was married to John B. Thompson, of Nelsonville, for 62 years.

Jennie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who took great pride in caring for her family. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed traveling, reading, playing euchre and scrabble. Jennie was raised in Columbus, attended Columbus schools and graduated from Bliss Business College in Columbus in 1943. She worked as a payroll clerk at the Timkin Roller Bearing Company in Columbus and retired from the payroll department at Ohio University. She was a life member of the Nelsonville VFW Auxiliary and CCC Auxiliary and a member of Glouster Women of the Moose, USLST Association Auxiliary and the Ohio Amphibs Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, John R. Teresa Thompson of Delaware, Ohio and Jerrold Sue Thompson of Albany, Ohio; daughter, Judy Thompson of Nelsonville; six grandchildren, Kimberly Andy Halter Thompson of Delaware, Troy Thompson of Blacklick, John B. Thompson of Columbus, Audrey Keith Hall of Glouster, Doug Thompson of Del Ray Beach, Florida and Gretchen Phil Richardson of Lubbock, Texas; six great grandchildren and a special friend, Ellen Sacco of Louisville, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Friday, December 21, 2007 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
