Henry Joseph Martinez

Henry Joseph Martinez, 90, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. He was born July 10, 1917 in Ocampo, Mexico, son of the late Bonafico and Jessie Negrete Martinez. Henry was the widow of the late Lucille Hanning Martinez, who passed away in 1983.

He retired from Athens Mental Health and was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church and the Nelsonville VFW, American Legion and Senior Citizens.

Henry is survived by daughter, Vicki Gary Wisor of Nelsonville; son, Joe Martinez of Nelsonville; stepson, David Barb Bowers of Mentor on the Lake; seven grandchildren, Maria Jo, Levi, Jessica, Jeff, Nicole, Mindy and Melanie; brother, Andy Martinez of Holland, Michigan; sister, Lola Martinez of Lorain and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joe, John and Pete Martinez and sisters, Mary Louise Meca, Rachael Ballars and Santos Rodrigus.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M., Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Connett Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
