Alberta Gail Haning, 85, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008 at her residence. She was born May 31, 1922 in Nelsonville, daughter of the late Eugene and Ethel Courtney Brickles. She was married for 61 years to Clyde Morris Haning, who survives.
A 1940 graduate of Pomeroy High School, she was a former employee of the Pomeroy A&P grocery, Hocking College, Milky's Service Station & Grocery and Whitmore's Greenhouse. She was a member of the Nelsonville First Christian Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Gene Courtney Nina Haning of New Lexington; a daughter, Anita Joyce Donald Webb of Athens; four grandchildren, Shawn Haning of Marietta, Alison Tim Cassady of Logan, Dar and Trey Whitlatch of Athens; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Layton Cassady of Logan; a sister, Ruth Jewell of Coal Grove; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Maxine Haning of Albany; a sister-in-law, Pearl Haning of Piqua.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant child; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Max E. Hazel Brickles and Robert A. Betty Brickles; one sister and brother-in-law, Olive Melvin Smith; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Jewell and Willis Haning; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dana O. Luella Haning, Lester G. Cora Haning and Ray M. Myrta Haning and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor Tom Hanning officiating. Interment is in Wells Cemetery, Meigs Co. Friends may call Wednesday, February 20, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
